When new is the right call
Choose new boxes when one of these applies:
- The box must carry a current Box Maker's Certificate for a carrier or customer spec.
- It is customer-facing, branded or printed.
- The application calls for a known board grade every time.
- You need a size that the used market rarely sees.
If none of those apply, a good used box often does the same job. See used vs new gaylord boxes for the trade-offs.
What to specify
- Inside dimensions
- Length × width × height, inside. See how to measure.
- Wall count
- 2-wall to 5-wall, set by load weight and stacking. See wall construction.
- Style
- Full overlap (FOL), half slotted (HSC) with a lid, telescoping, or octagonal.
- Test
- ECT or Mullen, if a spec or carrier requires one.
- Extras
- Lids, liners, print, and whether you want them flat (knocked down) or set up.
- Quantity and cadence
- One order or a repeating schedule.

Common questions
About new gaylord boxes, made to a known spec
Can I get custom-size new gaylords?
Custom sizes can be requested. They usually need a minimum quantity and more lead time than stock sizes; the supplier will confirm both with the quote.
Do new gaylords come with lids and liners?
They can be requested together. See lids, liners and accessories.
