The four decisions
Footprint — set by your pallet
48 × 40 unless something forces otherwise.
Height — set by reach and volume
Taller boxes hold more but are harder to reach into and suit lighter material.
Wall count — set by weight and stacking
Heavier, denser loads and higher stacks need more walls.
Grade — set by handling
Count how many times the box is handled and whether customers see it.
Terms you will meet

- Mullen
- Burst test — puncture resistance.
- KD
- Knocked down — shipped flat.
- BMC
- Box Maker's Certificate — the stamp on a bottom flap.
