Bulk bags and octabins

Free-flowing material such as pellets, powders and granulate behaves differently from parts in a box. Octabins and bulk bags are designed for it. Tell us the material and how it is filled and emptied.

Octabins

  • Eight-sided corrugated bins, usually on a pallet.
  • The angled corners help material discharge instead of bridging in square corners.
  • Often used with a poly liner for pellets and granulate.

Bulk bags (FIBCs)

  • Woven polypropylene bags with lifting loops.
  • Fill and discharge spouts suit powders and granules.
  • Rated by safe working load and safety factor.

Bulk bag safety

Bulk bags carry a safe working load (SWL) and a safety factor. A 5:1 bag is made for a single trip. Only bags rated 6:1 and above are designed for reuse, and only after inspection. Never exceed the marked SWL, and check current standards and your own safety rules before reusing any bag.

See octabin vs gaylord for how to choose between an octabin and a square box.
