Octabin vs gaylord

Square gaylords and eight-sided octabins look like a small difference. For free-flowing material it can be the difference between a box that empties and one that doesn't.

Octabin

  • Angled corners reduce bridging of pellets and granules.
  • The shape resists bulging when filled with flowing material.
  • Common for resin and granulate, often with a liner.

Square gaylord

  • Uses the pallet footprint fully.
  • Easier to find in the used market in many sizes.
  • Suits parts, scrap and material that doesn't flow.

If your material bridges or ratholes in square boxes, try an octabin. If it doesn't flow, a square gaylord usually makes better use of space.
